As an archaeologist of the imagination, I unearth the layers of consciousness searching for remnants of human existence. Time may wear away the terrain, fading the specifics, yet it also provides the canvas for weaving our personal narratives.
The artwork within the 'The Fieldworks' exhibition at Splendor Amsterdam, running from 26-06-18 to 06-07-18, conveys scenes and landscapes meant to be interpreted beyond their visual appearance. Each landscape is tied to a specific date, yet following them chronologically can lead to confusion. Throughout the exhibition, visitors encountered a multimedia log book crafted by Ed in collaboration with Splendor. This log book serves as a gateway to a realm of imaginative exploration, unlocking a tapestry of interconnected associations and shared memories.
The general purpose of a logbook is to be able to read back later what exactly happened at a certain moment. At the time of recording, it is not yet known what one wants to read back later. In this logbook, however, the events are not fixed or in chronological order. Your own imagination will have to make the connections.
In collaboration with various Splendor musicians and with a guided improvisation by David Dramm, a special viewing and listening experience has been created in which my landscapes play the leading role. An experience in which music and art take you to a place where all logic in time and space is absent and imagination reigns.
