Wall relief, Landscape 18-06 Fossilized unity

Ed de Wild has been involved with Splendor from the very beginning, designing the transformation of an old dilapidated bathhouse into music building Splendor.

In honor of the 5th anniversary of Amsterdam's artistic hub, Splendor asked Ed to create a permanent work for there building.

The relief on the back wall of the main hall in Splendor was made during his exhibition 'The fieldworks'. This exhibition focused on 16 scenic reliefs, which could be regarded as archaeological sites of the imagination.

During the exhibition, a tent was set up in the main hall where Ed conducted his archaeological fieldwork as a self-proclaimed archaeologist of the imagination.

The wall relief itself can also be regarded as an archaeological site. The fossilized starling swarm symbolizes the 1250 members of Splendor, all uniquely yet harmoniously flying together through time and space.

The permanent artwork can be seen during concerts in the Great Hall of Splendor Amsterdam
